Not just one but two days of fun are in store at this year’s Mytholmroyd Gala, on Saturday and Sunday, July 5 and 6.

As well as the traditional gala on Saturday, a fancy dress parade, the crowning of the new gala queen Elsa Wilson and an afternoon of on-field entertainment at the Burnley Road site, an “M” Factor competition in the X Factor mould late in the afternoon will be followed by an evening concert with a galaxy of singing stars.

On Sunday, opening in the morning, the gala links in with the Tour De France - which will pass right by the gala field - and will incorporate a giant 20 square metre screen as it becomes a local spctator hub, with 30 toilets available. After the riders have gone through, another afternoon and evening’s entertainment is laid on.

The parade starts from Orchard Park Industrial Estate, Scout Road, at noon on Saturday, with on-field opening at around 12.55pm.

From Friday, July 4, to Sunday, July 6, there will also be a fairground to enjoy.

Pre-day tickets for Saturday, July 5, are £2 for adults and £1.50 for children, available from local shops displaying gala stickers in their windows. On the day the prices are £3 for adults and £2 for children.

For race day, Sunday, July 6, pre-day tickets are £3 for all, with on-the-gate, on-the-day prices rising to £5.
