Two people were taken to hospital after a fire in Halifax.

Firefighters were called to Queens Road at 8.15pm yesterday evening.

West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said a crews tackled a fire in the kitchen of the commercial three-storey property.

A spokesperson for WYFRS said: "Crews used two hose reels, four breathing apparatus and a high powered fan to clear smoke from the property.

"Two females suffered smoke inhalation and were transported to hospital by ambulance.

"Appliances from Halifax, Illingworth and Rastrick attended."

Police officers were also called to the scene as the road was closed off.
