Young bands and performers took to the stage for the first ever Routes Festival at the Orange Box Young People’s Centre, Halifax.

In a joint collaboration with Square Chapel Centre for the Arts and Youth Routes, a day of live music and workshops was held at the venue on Thomas Street.

The free festival showcased music ranging from metal to pop, indie to acoustic played on two open stages from some of Calderdale’s best unsigned artists and bands aged between 11-25 years.

Set to officially open at the beginning of September this year, the Orange Box also made its debut.

The centre was designed by a committee of young people and is funded by the Department for education through the MyPlace scheme.
