A 16-year-old girl has died after a car crashed into a building in Halifax on Sunday night.

The local teenager was taken to Leeds General Infirmary after the car she travelling in collided with the wall of the Halifax Bathrooms store in Queen’s Road.

Detective Sergeant Carole Greaves of the Major Collision Enquiry Team said; “A 16-year-old girl has sadly lost her life as a result of the serious injuries sustained during the collision on Sunday evening.

“Enquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances of the incident which occurred on Queens Road, Halifax around 10.49pm.

“Two other females, the 22-year-old driver, and 28-year-old rear passenger are still being treated for their injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

“We are continuing to appeal for witnesses to the incident, and for anyone who saw the vehicle being driven prior to the collision to come forward.

Fire crews from Halifax and Illingworth attended the scene at 11.30pm and spent an hour freeing the casualties.
