Update: Appeal for witnesses following two car crash involving eight people

Police officers are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision involving two vehicles and eight people of Wakefield Road, Brighouse.

The incident took place around 9pm on Saturday evening, when a Volkswagen Golf and Audi A4 are believed to have collided.

Eight males were travelling in the vehicles, four are still being treated in hospital for their injuries.

A 37-year-old male, believed to be the driver of the Golf, is receiving treatment for serious injuries at Leeds General Infirmary which are now believed to be non-life-threatening.

The other casualties were rushed to hospitals across the district.

Police Constable Sean Hepworth or the Safer Roads and Neighbourhood Team (Western) said: “I am appealing for witnesses who may have seen either vehicle travelling along Huddersfield Road, or Wakefield Road immediately before the collision as they may hold vital information. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Cleckheaton Fire Station crew had to cut the roof off an Audi car to remove two backseat passengers on longboards after the incident near Cooper Bridge.

Fire crews from Mirfield, Cleckheaton, Batley and Rastrick attended the accident.
