The school at Holmfield, Halifax, is open as normal today.

Yesterday an overheated light fitting resulted in a sprinkler system causing water damage to the premises.

Halifax and Illingworth firefighters were called shortly after 1 pm.

The small fire started in a science lab and the water seeped through a floor into other areas.

Crews helped with the clean-up operation.

The school said damage was minimal and there is no disruption to any lessons as all teaching rooms were not affected.
