UPDATE - Motorcyclist killed after colliding with bin lorry

A motorcyclist has died after being in collision with a bin lorry.

The 44-year-old man was riding his white and red Yamaha YZF motorbike when it collided with a red Dennis bin lorry on the A650 at Tingley.

Emergency services were called to the scene near the junction with Capitol Boulevard at around 6.20am this morning (Tuesday).

The man was treated for his injuries but he died at the scene.

Det Con Kerry Gibson, of the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: “I would appeal for anyone who was travelling along the A650 around the time of the incident this morning who may have seen either vehicle prior to the collision, or who witnessed the collision itself to come forward. “Enquiries are ongoing.”
