Police say the 26-year-old pedestrian hurt in the road accident at the junction of Wharf Street and Tuel Lane was last night in a stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
He was airlifted to Leeds General Infirmary yesterday afternoon after he was in a collision with a black Mini around 2.45 pm.
Traffic Police Sgt Penny Robinson added that inquiries are ongoing.
She said there were plenty of witnesses and if anyone can come forward and assist they should contact PC Sandford on 101.
Wharf Street and Tuel Lane were closed while the incident was dealt with and reopened late afternoon.
