Updated: Students stranded in Scottish blizzard return home

A group of students and staff who were stranded in snow blizzards on a Scottish island over the weekend have returned home.

The travelling party from Calder High School abandoned a geology field trip on the isle of Arran in favour of helping a local lifeboat team distribute food to islanders.

The students and staff began to make their way home on Monday.

A school spokesperson has confirmed this morning (Tuesday) that they have now arrived back home safely.
