The first ever Brighouse Canal, Beer & Music Festival is up and rolling.

The event has been organised by the Brighouse Business Initiative.

The attractions include a large variety of boats on the Calder and Hebble Navigation, a huge street market, canal crafts, a local real ale tent and lots to entertain the children including a funfair, steam train, boat trips and an animal display.

Live music is being performed all day on three outdoor stages.

Local singer and songwriter Roger Davies, who is headlining, will be performing a set ahead of his evening concert at the Civic Hall.

The exciting musical line up today includes Dave MacPherson, Avon Blyth, Kirklees Brass, Rooster Blue, Fie Fie Fie, Do Miss America and even Elvis Presley among many others.

The performances will run from 11am to 10pm.

The two main stages are in Thornton Square and Bethel Street car park.

At 8pm a band called Raisers will take to the stage and round off the evening with their rousing music and get the audience literally dancing in the street. The real ale tent will be open to supply local brews.

Tomorrow the line-up includes, Bella Gaffney, Cajun Aces. Whiter Than, Jake Smallbone’s Band and Resonation among many others. Performances run from 11am to 5pm.
