A woman has had to be cut from her car following a five-vehicle crash in Halifax this morning (Thursday).

The woman is thought to be in her 30s, but at this point it’s not thought anybody else has been injured.

She was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

The smash happened at around 10.30 this morning, at the junction of Prescott Street and Union Street.

The crash was between a black Mercedes CLS and a Citroen C3, but other vehicles, including a Peugeot Vivacity motorcycle and a Isuzu pick-up truck were also involved.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said that it’s thought one car had been coming out of Union Street and another was travelling up Prescott Street.

One car hit the other and the Mercedes went up on the kerb and over the other car, landing on vehicles parked up in a car park.

Firefighters had to remove the roof of the Citroen so the woman could be cut from the vehicle.

Police and firefighters are currently working at the scene as recovery work takes place
