Video: Dogs went barking mad for RSPCA’s Party in the Park

The heat was on today, to find Calderdale’s creme de la creme of canines in the RSPCA Party in the Park 2014.

From 12-5pm today, Sunday, dog lovers across the region and beyond travelled to Halifax’s Manor Heath Park to enter their pooches in a host of competition classes.

There were 26 classes in the fun dog show - from the best dressed dog in town category ‘K9 Fashion Icon’ to man’s best friend look-a-like category ‘Matched Pair’, ‘Celebrity Dog Look-a-Like’, ‘Child’s Best Friend’.

All first prize winners were eligible to compete in the ‘Best In Show’ category.

There was also a chance to teach your dog a trick, training and behaviour skills with trained staff on hand.

For people who don’t have a dog, but would like to give a dog in need a new home there was be a parade of dogs who needed a loving home.

There was be a special Chip Stop - with veterinary surgeons Hird and Partners offering low cost micro-chipping to ensure dogs are traceable for life.

Visitors enjoyed browsing charity stalls, playing games, tombola, children’s activities and refreshments.
