Volunteer Michael given £5,000 for his charity
Michael Parkes, who helps provide food and a safe environment for the homeless and disadvantaged in Halifax, had already been recognised as one of 66 local winners from across the UK.
He has now been chosen as one of seven regional winners who will each receive £5,000 to make a further difference in their community.

Hide AdMichael volunteers at the Banqueting Table café for Christians Together Calderdale and he helps to feed 80 people with a two course meal three times a week.
Michael said: “Oh wow.Amazing news. I can’t wait to tell my colleagues about that.
“It’s going to make a massive difference to us and we can do so much more with that kind of money.”
The £5,000 will go towards the purchase of desperately needed equipment to help them perform as effectively as possible in the delivery of a positive and comfortable dining experience.
