Volunteers from the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association (AMYA) teamed up with care worker, Clare Harwood to visit the children’s ward at Calderdale Royal Hospital.
Clare, touched by a radio station’s Christmas appeal for presents for needy children, launched an appeal of her own on Facebook and decided to collect and deliver gifts to spread some Christmas joy.
She said: “I was extremely touched by the warm response I got from the children and staff who do a great job. I hope we can do this again next year and I am grateful to AMYA for their help.”
Kamal Aftab, regional youth leader for AMYA Yorkshire, added: “As Muslims we are encouraged to partake in charity and we are reminded of our social responsibility to help our local communities, especially those challenged by sickness.”
