Walker falls 20 metres down steep Calder Valley hill

A man had to be rescued after falling 20 metres down a hill in the Calder Valley.

The Calder Valley Search and Rescue team received a call from Yorkshire Ambulance to help with the rescue at 5.15pm on Sunday.

The walker had fallen approximately 20m down a steep slope from the main track at Hardcastle Crags.

CVSRT members made their way to the location and once on the scene assessed the casualty’s injuries.

Thankfully he had sustained only minor cuts and bruises from the tumble.

The casualty was then placed on a stretcher and using a rope system, hauled back up the steep slope to the track and handed over to the ambulance crew.
