Walking fest highlights best of local gems

There’ll be ample opportunity to enjoy the stunning Calderdale landscape in this year’s Pennines Walk and Ride Festival.

There will be more than 140 events across the South Pennines and with nearly 50 events, Calderdale will host more events than any other area.

The festival is managed by Pennine Prospects, a rural regeneration company set up to champion the South Pennines.

Pennine Prospects operations director, Mark Turner, said: “The South Pennines is a stunning landscape, often overlooked or taken for granted by those of us who live and work here.

“The South Pennines Walk and Ride Festival gives everyone, residents and visitors alike, opportunities to explore this rich and diverse area in new and different ways.”

The festival region’s hidden gems with walks led by experienced volunteer guides, on routes designed to showcase the best historic, artistic or visual points of interest

Many walks will also include opportunities to see local wildlife.
