Watch the moment Triangle pair scoop £30,000 in postcode lottery

Two Triangle residents are celebrating winning £30,000 each thanks to their lucky postcode.

The Thorp Mill Court neighbours, who play with the postcode HX6 3DA, won People’s Postcode Lottery’s Street Prize on Sunday March 19.

The win has come at a perfect time for gym owner Richard Hornsey, 34.

“I was literally in the middle of applying for a £25,000 loan to expand my business,” he said. “This money will enable me to hire an extra member of staff – something we’ve needed for a long time – and create two more rooms and a lot more kit.”

Richard, who owns Crossfit Boudicca in the area, was also delighted to win with his neighbour, Victoria. “I’ve known Victoria since I was a baby,” he said. “She’s my mum’s best friend so I feel like another family member has won.”

Victoria Terry, 62, was extra lucky as she won in her first ever draw.

“I’d been meaning to sign up for ages but I finally managed to get my daughter-in-law’s help to sign up online – I took her and my son out for dinner as a thank you,” she said.

Service Manager Victoria has a few ideas of how to spend her winnings.

“I’ve just booked a holiday to Florida with Hannah and Daniel – my son and daughter-in-law - and my grandson, Alfie.

“The flights were pricey and I was worried about my spending money. This will cover it. As well as that, I desperately need a new car. To me, this really is life-changing.”

Judie McCourt, People’s Postcode Lottery Ambassador, said: “Meeting Richard and Victoria was fantastic, I loved handing them their winning cheques. People’s Postcode Lottery is all about winning with your neighbours so it’s great that these two know each other so well they’re practically family.”
