Met Office issues more weather warnings for Calderdale with heavy rain and strong winds on the way

The Met Office has issued two warnings for Calderdale as the borough braces itself for more unsettled weather.

The yellow weather warning for rain has been issued from Friday lunchtime until 6am on Saturday.

A Met Office spokesperson said: "Further rain is expected across northern England on Friday.

"Rain is expected to turn persistent and occasionally heavy over parts of the Pennines before clearing early on Saturday - 20-30 mm is likely to fall widely over higher ground with the potential for 60-80 mm in a few places.

"Given the recent wet conditions this brings a chance of flooding.

A yellow weather warning for strong winds has also been issued on Staurday between 6am and 10pm.

"Strong, gusty winds are expected across Scotland, Northern Ireland and parts of northern England during Saturday," said the Met Office

"The strongest winds will likely occur in the vicinity of heavy, squally showers.

"Whilst not all areas will see the strongest winds, gusts of 55-65 mph are expected in places.

"Exposed parts of northern and western Scotland may see gusts of 65-75 mph.

"Showers will fall as a mixture of rain, hail and sleet with snow accumulations expected to be restricted to higher ground (above 200 to 300 m). Winds will gradually moderate during Saturday evening."
