STORM DENNIS: Flood warnings still in place in Calderdale

Two flood warnings are currently in place at Hebble Brook at and Luddenden Foot.

Areas most at risk are properties on Tenterfields Business Estate, Dean Clough Industrial Park and Dean Clough Mill.

Despite over-stretched resources due to last week's flooding, Calderdale Council has said that they are working to assist residents and reduce the damage caused by Storm Dennis.

Following the overnight rain, there are instances of pooling water on road across the borough. The council's tea,s are dealing with these throughout the day, but they have advised people to "take extra care when out and about and don't drive through flood water."

Six community help hubs across Calderdale are open until 4pm today.

Brighouse - Brighouse Civic Hall, Bradford Rd, Brighouse HD6 1RW

Beechwood Road and Mixenden Libraries are also open for anyone needing advice or cleaning materials.

The Community Foundation for Calderdale has emergency grants available for those affected by the flooding. To apply for a grant, click here.Over £300,000 has been raised by the CFFC, to donate to the flood appeal, click here.Yesterday, 75 soldiers from the 4th Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland, were deployed to support the Environment Agency's efforts in Calderdale.

70 reservists from the 4th Battalion, The Yorkshire Regiment, were also sent to help.

Calderdale Council leader Tim Swift said: "This extra and expert resource couldn't be more welcome to support already exhausted communities and help us respond to further weather warnings across Calderdale."

During Storm Ciara last weekend, a month's rain fell in just 12 hours. Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd were the worst affected areas in Calderdale.

Over 200 properties in Mythomroyd were flooded, as the village's £35 million flood defence scheme was not due to be completed until the summer.
