Calderdale Council is putting in plans to deal with any damage or probelms caused by Storm Doris as the UK prepares for her arrival on Thursday.

Severe weather warnings have been put in place for much of the country as weather forecasters warn of the possibility of travel disruption, damage to buildings and flying debris

Calderdale Council is also warning people about the impending storm and are putting in place precautionary plans.

A spokesperson said: “The Council is aware of the high winds forecast over the next few days and the Safer Cleaner Greener team are prepared.”

“Amber warnings” predict strong winds and heavy rain in Yorkshire with winds are expected to gust to 70 or 80mph for a short period.

Storm Doris is expected to move on quickly, with the worst of the weather gone by Thursday evening.

While further Atlantic gusts will bring more rain and wind through the weekend and into next week, they are not expected to reach the heights of Doris.
