Wintry showers to continue as snow and ice weather warning issued for Calderdale

The wintry weather is set to continue in Calderdale with the Met Office issuing a new warning.

The Met Office has placed a yellow warning for snow and ice in the Yorkshire and Humber region from 8pm tonight (Tuesday) in tomorrow morning.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Wintry showers are expected to continue through Tuesday night and Wednesday morning leaving surfaces wet and leading to icy stretches developing on untreated surfaces.

"These showers will fall as a mixture of rain, hail and snow at times, the snow mostly over higher ground.

"Some places are likely to see 1-3 cm of snow, mainly above 200 m, with 4-8 cm possible over the higher ground in northwest England, Wales and west Scotland."

The weather forecast for Halifax

Although a few snow showers are still expected over the Pennines tonight, the rest of the region will become largely clear but cold, with a widespread frost expected in the morning. Minimum temperature -1 °C.

Tomorrow there will be a mixture of sunny spells and showers, wintry over hills, but perhaps not as cold and windy as Tuesday. Remaining largely dry in the east. Maximum temperature 6 °C.
