West Yorkshire man dies in accident


A man from West Yorkshire has been killed in an accident on the M6 in Cumbria.

The 42-year-old who was driving a lorry carrying sheep and cattle, was freed from his cab and taken to hospital where he died later.

The crash, which involved another lorry, was on the southbound carriageway near the Southwaite services, yesterday (Friday) at 11.10pm.

Emergency services also rescued the animals that were trapped inside the lorry. They were herded into a second trailer by a local livestock haulier.

The second vehicle was driven by a 34-year-old man who was uninjured.

The southbound carriageway of the M6 remains closed between junctions 41 and 42.
