'˜What the mind believes, the body achieves'

A pair of fearless rugby league loving friends completed a gruelling charity challenge for a cause close to their hearts.

Ben Moorhouse, 33, originally from Shelf and Gaynor Thompson, 35, who is originally from Ovenden, Halifax, walked the full east coast of Rhodes, Greece, in just two days, last month.

They managed to smash their time last year, when they completed the walk in three days. The walk raised money for The Steve Prescott Foundation, in honour of the international rugby league player Steve Prescott, who died of cancer in 2013.

Speaking about the challenge, Ben said: “This year’s extreme challenge walk was the hardest test of our live, finishing the days exhausted and in pain.

“Personally my feet suffered with severe blisters, but in the true style of Steve Prescott we battled on with his belief of ‘what the mind believes the body achieves’.

Ben and Gaynor completed the walk in two stages.

They began in Prasonisi and walked 50 miles to Afandou and on the second day, the pair walked 20 miles from Afandou to Mandraki.
