Wild weather hits Calderdale roads

STRONG winds and heavy rain are causing problems on Calderdale’s roads this morning.

A fallen tree is blocking Burnley Road in Todmorden and the road has been shut while it is moved.

A fallen tree was also blocking Bacup Road in Todmorden but it has been removed.

Flooding has been reported on Halifax Road in Todmorden and water has also been reported on the A646 New Road between the A6033 Commercial Street junction in Hebden Bridge and the A6139 Tuel Lane junction in Sowerby Bridge.

The M62 was shut to high-sided vehicles for around 40 minutes earlier but has now been opened again.

Acting Sergeant Andy McManus from the Western Area Roads Policing Team urged people not to try to drive through flooded roads and to take extra care.
