This October, countless well-known members of the Rugby League family will run out on to the Shay pitch, to be a part of the most significant charity game the stadium has ever seen. To celebrate the launch of the event, Danny’s widow Lizzie Jones, and twins Phoebe and Bobby, will lead out the Halifax Rugby Football Club side at the next home game, against Superleague’s Salford Red Devils, on Saturday September 5.

Wembley winner and all-round Halifax legend Mick Scott will coach the Halifax select 13s, and Robbie Hunter Paul will be captaining the World side.

Liam Finn, Bobby Goulding, Lee Paterson, Bob Beswick and Mark Calderwood are some of the names taking to the stage on Sunday, October 11, where the teams will take part in a four-part game of non-contact rugby. The world of rugby league was stunned when the Wales half-back - aged just 29 - passed away after suffering a suspected cardiac arrest at their League 1 away game against London Skolars.

Jones played in Super League with Halifax and featured in the 2013 World Cup.

The Halifax RLFC Board of Directors said: “The Halifax Club was always going to play its part in supporting his family, but we took time to work out the format for the day which could excite the most interest, and we believe that we have found it.”

The club has chosen non-contact specifically so that Rugby League celebrities far and wide can take part, and the game will not impact on that player’s current club, be it Superleague or any other competition.

The decision has created a unique opportunity, where fans can play a professional game of rugby league.

For just £5 people can buy a raffle ticket for the draw, where four names will be pulled out of the hat and entered into the squads.

Ticket price is £10 for adults and £5 for concessions/juniors.

Hospitality packages to enjoy a meal and extras whilst raising money for the Danny Jones Fund are also available on the night.

All bookings must be made by calling the club on 01422 342 792 and there is a blanket price of £50, including admission.
