WWI postcard meant for Rastrick found in Scotland

A 100 year old postcard which was addressed to someone in Rastrick has turned up at a car boot sale in Scotland.

The First Word War postcard, which features the tea room in Dunfermline’s Pittencrieff Park, has a Dunfermeline postmark on it and is dated April 1918.

It is addressed to Mrs Marsden, Thornhill Road, Rastrick from her grandson Roy, who was a sailor. The message reads:

Dear Grandma

Just a line to let you know I’m still alive and in the pink. I have been ashore and seen this view, a very nice spot in the summer I should think.Hope Hannah has good news from Arthur, I suppose he is in the thick of the fighting.I will let you have a letter when I get a little more news for you. Hoping you are both well.

Kind regards Roy

It was sent in to us by Tom Minogue, from Dunfermline, after he was given it by a friend who had stumbled across it at a car boot sale. If you have information please get in touch with us.
