A young prodigy from Halifax is preparing to compete in the UK Sportshall Athletics Final 2015 in Manchester this weekend after being crowned winner of the Under 15’s Yorkshire & Humber Regional Finals.

Anna Dickie contributed massively to the West Yorkshire team success in reaching the UK finals after winning two of her three individual events, claiming first in both the four Lap Race and Standing Long Jump in last month’s qualifiers at the Airco Arena in Hull.

Anna, who also claimed second in the Shot Put after throwing a distance of 8.39m, will be alongside the most successful young athletes from across the UK when they battle it out to win the UK Champion title this Sunday.

The Calderdale School girl competed in this year’s Sportshall Athletics West Yorkshire School Games, which were staged at the town’s North Bridge Leisure Centre, before being picked to represent West Yorkshire.

Sportshall Athletics, which is now the largest competition within the School Games framework, is an indoor form of track and field for children between the ages of four and 16.

The finals will be staged at Manchester’s Sportcity, which was used to host the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
