YOUNGSTERS had a day of entertainment and activities in an arts festival on Sunday.
Halifax’s Piece Hall was full of colour and creativity for a Youth Arts Festival Day – the first of its kind in West Yorkshire.
The event was organised by social enterprise Outta Place and Halifax Festival.
Youths enjoyed an extensive festival programmed including break-dancing, beat-boxing and scratch DJing.
One of the day’s highlights was a European dance off, where a live-video link was set up between the hall and Croatia.
A young breakdance crew in Dubrovnik then had a ‘dance off’ against the Riverside School breakers from Hebden Bridge and the Park Ward breakers of Halifax.
The aim of the event was to bring young people together through the creative application of digital technologies.
Youngsters attending Outta Place’s workshops showcased their talents in music, DIY fashion and video.
In the lead up to the festival day, Square Chapel Centre for The Arts hosted free sessions for youngsers including DJing, video mixing and junk fashion
