Your guide to the Victorian Christmas market in Brighouse

The Yorkshire Victorian Christmas Market is ready to showcase the best of Brighouse as organisers prepare for the weekend festivities.

The market will feature over 100 stalls full of Christmas gifts, shops decorated in Victorian style and staff dressed in period costume.

Bradford Road will host the stage where school choirs and bands will add atmosphere to our Christmas Festival, also, a fairground, which will complete the scene in this part of town.

Commercial Street and Bethel Street will host entertainers, adding variety, fun and merriment to the event.

The musical entertainment starts at 10am on Saturday with the Brighouse High School Band.

At noon the Caius Lee choir will be performing popular Christmas songs and at 12.30pm sees the Wise Men with their Camels parading through Brighouse followed by a steam punk parade.

St Andrew’s School choir perform at 2pm. At 2.30pm the Shire Horses arrive at the bottom of Market Street and parade with Santa around the town with the Steampunk re-enactors.

At 4.15pm Father Christmas joins the torch-light parade around town and at 4.30 pm, along with characters from Minions turns on the Christmas lights.

Waring Green Community centre will play host to the Victorian Christmas Variety show, at 7.30pm, tickets £8 / £10

Sunday begins with the market opening at 10am and choirs on stage and entertainment around the town throughout the day.

At 11am the Huddersfield and Ripponden Brass Band perform bringing Christmas cheer to the town.

The Shire horses will arrive at noon and be available for rides around Thornton Square before collecting Father Christmas for his Parade around Brighouse at 2.30pm.

At 1.30pm the Cliffe Hill school choir perform. At 3.30pm the spectacular Hellfyre Dancers will light up the town with their fire dances.
