Crossing on blind bend in West Vale

Stainland Road

Work has already commenced, and Rochdale Road in West Vale is to be closed next week, installing a pedestrian crossing on the blind bend slightly up from Clay House Park in the village.

This latest bit of nonsense is the result of Calderdale MBC passing the plans for the Lottery Funded “Greenway” from Rochdale Road, across two redundant Viaducts of no particular quality to Stainland Road.

As one councillor said at the public meeting when the plans were aired by the Bristol based organisation behind the plan (and the lottery money) - “it will be 400 yards of walkway which goes from nowhere to nowhere.”

With the installation of the crossing on a blind bend, I can only assume it is Calderdale Council’s contribution to population control!
