Please, please, please, will everyone interested in their local community either write to the council or make comments on the relevant council web site regarding proposals in the new Local Development Framework. These changes are up for discussion and comment and will affect your area for years to come. The result will be the basis for all future planning applications.

Remember the last Conservative run council agreed to allow an extra 1,000 houses within the area of Hipperholme and Lightcliffe, Leeds City Region expanded this figure to 2,000 extra houses. Remember the ‘paper exercise’ with regard to a possible Titan Prison to be built in Hipperholme and the final comment, “this site not required at this time”!

So far, my reading of the proposed Localism Bill does not show me where local residents can reduce the size of a planning application, only agree to the increase in size, with supposed benefits of increased tax payments to Calderdale?

Last week we had the Chair of the Planning Committee, Councillor Jennifer Pearson, advising us that the Planning Committee was ‘becoming an embarrassment’ and “lacking legitimacy in the eyes of the public”! So can we leave the future of Hipperholme and Lightcliffe and its surroundings to the Planning Committee? With no representation on the committee from the Hipperholme and Lightcliffe ward, Brighouse and Rastrick wards we need to be alert to any changes being put forward for the new Local Development Framework.

Consultation finishes on March 25 2011, at 5pm. Please add your comments to the Web site http://calderdale - consult.limehouse.co.uk/portal or write to The Spatial Planning Team, Planning Service, Calderdale MBC, Northgate House, Northgate, Halifax HX1 1UN

Crosslee Planning application for 167 houses passed with no local councillor representation allowed and neighbouring councillors not allowed to speak on our behalf, is this fair?
