WHAT a joke, if it wasn’t so sad. I refer to the front page picture of Pat Nash (Courier, April 14) enjoying the view of Copley valley from Albert Promenade.
The fact that this green open view is being used as an example of our lovely Calderdale countryside, to entice new tourism, is a sick joke.
Development plans for 400 houses, flats and industrial units for the same location as the picture, are due to go before the planning committee very soon.
There has to be a more compatible alternative to these plans, and one which really will bring more tourists to add to those who already visit our valley in large numbers.
If planning permission is granted it will be the most disgraceful decision that has ever been made.
