John Shoesmith writes (Your say, May 30) that opposing parties “made no impact” in early May “at a time when the ruling government has had to implement some of the toughest measures in modern times”.
He is misinformed, for there were some 800 Labour gains at the council elections of May 5; a very good advance, concealed by hostile media, like the causation of the recession not by Gordon Brown but by greedy bankers. As for toughness, the role of the Con/Dem Coalition before the money boys is akin to that of rabbits before a stoat.
