The new initiative by Calderdale Council to introduce 20mph speed limits on local roads is interesting.
So you can sign a legal document and hey presto, the roads are safer.
I don’t think so. If you take the road from Brighouse to Halifax passing through Southowram you will understand. Ninety per centof drivers ignore it as it is not enforced.
If the council has so much time on their hands they could introduce a minimum width for on-street parking where vehicles are double parked all day.
Residents are asked to move their cars to allow the bin wagons and emergency vehicles access through. If that regulation is already available, enforce it.
Now that’s useful.
