Letter: We're confident many will attend

I was naturally disappointed to read the letter from the Cravens in last week's Courier (Christmas market not as good, December 1) but I have to say their experience does not reflect the vast majority of comments we have received afer the event.

In addition, I am not sure what their intent is with the comment about the management team - the team organising this year’s event are the same as the one who have organised all previous events in Brighouse.

Our Brighouse town centre events are entirely free events to attend - you don’t have to spend any money if you don’t want to, food prices are the same as ever and we have spoken to a good number of shopkeepers who had a very good weekend.

Some stallholders further say they had the best day’s trade they have ever had at a market.

Given that these events are organised and run entirely by volunteers, giving their time and effort to try and support Brighouse, the fact the Cravens use a word such as ‘disaster’ is cruel, uncalled for and simply untrue. It is a shame they won’t be attending any events in the future, but we’re confident many will.
