Opinion: Hospital service could not be faulted

My wife recently went through events that required treatment and attention at the Calderdale Royal Hospital.

I would like to give recognition to the amazing treatment we received from all the nurses and doctors during this ordeal.

Every bit of contact we had was supportive and sensitive, our needs and wishes were accommodated, and there was no delays on her receiving the required treatment, which was provided promptly and effectively.

I would like to put this forward against all the media coverage of the NHS system being under pressure and supposedly at breaking points, that many services, certainly the ones we received, are being delivered at the highest standards that I could possibly expect.

I would hope that we can focus simply on the areas that do need attention, and not lose sight of the fact that we have a health service that is delivering excellent care on many fronts.
