A youth brass band has taken a national title home to Calderdale.
The Elland Silver Youth Brass Band were crowned the Action Medical Research Entertainment champions.
The band’s musical production, which was based on Charlie Chaplin, led the band to the winning position in the entertainment category and second place in the music category.
They were also crowned overall winners and collected a total of seven trophies at the competition.
Their trophy haul included ‘Best Trombone Section’, ‘Best Euphonium Soloist’, ‘Best March’, ‘Best Stage Deportment’ and ‘Best Conductor’.
Samantha Harrison, the band’s musical director, (pictured right) said: “I was thrilled with the performance they gave, it couldn’t have been any better.
“The band is incredibly hard working and always gives 110 per cent at rehearsals; they just keep getting better and better.
“They are a fantastic team of talented young people, and really loved performing together.”
The top brass band performed at the Blackpool Opera House at the weekend, alongside eight of the UK’s top youth brass bands.
The band were runners- up in 2014 and previously competed in 2010 and 2012.
