20 inspirational quotes to lift your mood on Blue Monday

If you're feeling a little down, then it's to be expected.

The third Monday in January is considered the gloomiest day of the year when the winter weather, money woes and memories of Christmas all combine in one big reality reminder.

Known as Blue Monday, whether or not it is more depressing than any other day of the year remains scientifically unproven but is still widely accepted as so by the British public.

Its origins appear to stem from a 2005 press release sent out by the now defunct holiday company Sky Travel, who claimed to have used an equation to calculate the date.

Either way, staying positive on this day can be tough, so if you're in need of a little lift then the wise words of others can often provide some comfort to help get you through.

Here's 20 quotes to help you through the day.
