More than £1500 was raised in memory of Lewis, who was a great supporter of the club.

There were 16 bouts, 12 of them featuring home club fighters and before the action started people stood in silence for the traditional Ten Bells.

Host club fighters Callum Duke and Tyler Brocklehurstdid their best to upstage Ricky Hatton at Saturday’s Hebden Bridge ABC show at The Venue, Barkisland.

Hatton, probably the best British light-welterweight fighter of all time, was at the show to see his son fight. Campbell Hatton lost to a Huddersfield Gladiators opponent and Ricky was kept busy signing autographs and posing for pictures.

There were 13 fights for the 300 and 350 spectactors.

There were wins for four out of five Bridge fighters while a sixth, 10-year-old Ethan Hewitt, showed great promise in a skills bout, which has no result.
