Minnows paired in last eight of Parish Cup

Sowerby St Peters and Great Horton Park Chapel, the two non-Premier Division sides left in the Halifax Parish Cup, have been paired in the quarter finals.

Sowerby, who regained top spot in the middle section yesterday, upset top flight outfit SBCI in the last round.

Great Horton Park Chapel are joint leaders of Division Two and they knocked out division-higher Luddenden Foot in the last 16.

The draw was made at the tea interval of yesterday’s Foster’s Halifax League match of the day between top three sides Jer Lane and Mytholmroyd.

Lane skipper Mick Hustler drew the home teams and he wasn’t thanking Tom Earle, when the ‘Royd skipper sent last year’s beaten finalists on a tricky trip to Sowerby Bridge.

‘Royd will have no easy game themselves. They will play either Thornton or Calder Valley rivals Booth, whose delayed second round game takes place today.
