Mytholmroyd are maximum men

They followed up an opening day win at Queensbury with a two-wicket home success over Triangle.

Late afternoon rain caused some stoppages and abandonments and Mytholmroyd almost came unstuck in their hurried pursuit of Triangle’s poor 128 total.

Jack Earle continued his bright start to the season with another four wickets, Martin Uttley (38) offering most resistance.

Although ‘Royd knocked off the runs in 19 overs, they lost eight wickets along the way with Richard Turner taking four of them. Luke Sutcliffe top scored with 36.

Promoted pair SBCI and Queensbury are yet to get off the mark.

SBCI lost their derby clash at home to Sowerby Bridge by two wickets with George Hampshire’s 64 and Robin Hanson’s four wickets in vain as Bridge chased down 176 to win with the help of a second successive good knock from Nick Whitehill (61).

Queensbury were bowled out for 79 at Blackley and Reece Jennison’s hosts quickly wrapped up a nine-wicket win.

Champions Jer Lane dropped only one point for the ssecond game running, winning by six wickets at Warley.

Spinner Simon Collins (seven for 79) left Lane needing 200 to win and he finished the task with 22 not out alongside Andrew Pinfield (62 no) after Raqeeb Younas had hit 85.

Booth and Thornton reached rain-reduced targets to beat Southowram and Copley respectively.

Ian Hall followed up an opening day century with 83 and Dean Crossley hit 56 as the Rams made 239.

Booth were left requiring 185 off fewer overs and Robert Worsnop (61) and Jack Heptinstall (54) ensured they got there with six wickets in hand.

Chris Dennison took his tally past 300 runs in two innings this season with 81 in Copley’s 225 for three at Thornton.

Greg Soames also made 81 but was unbeaten in Thornton’s successful reply, the hosts winning by seven wickets.

Sowerby SP Peters and Bradshaw have quickly put their relegation blues behind them.

They filled the bottom two places in the Premier last season but have notched a quick double at the start of 2015.

Sowerby brought Division Two champions Bridgeholme down to earth with a bump, dismissing them for 65 and winning by eight wickets.

Bridgeholme had crushed Stones by 220 runs in their first outing but had no answer to spinner Martin Schofield (four for 32) and the quicker Matty Hoyle (six for 24).

Fourth-wicket pair Connor Ryan (96 no) and Steve Beck (80) figured in an excellent unbroken fourth-wicket stand as Bradshaw passed Low Moor’s 196 for seven.

Luddenden Foot opened their account for the season with a one-wicket win over visitors Oxenhope.

Needing 232 to win. opener George Ashton (62) and ex-Walsden man Tyson Illingworth (70) had the hosts well placed but they needed an unbeaten 25 from James Stott to see them home.

Upper Hopton were 93 for four in reply to Clayton’s 156 and Denholme Clough were 73 without loss in pursuit of Shelf’s 244 when those two games were washed out in the second division.

Graham Rankin’s 126 set up Cullingworth for a total of 288 for three and a 177-run win over 10-man Old Town.

Second-wicket pair Lee Mellor (57) and Chris Brook (58 no) paved the way for Outlane’s five wicket win at Great Horton Park Chapel.
