In a message on Twitter, Booth said: “This is due to a positive COVID-19 test from a player involved in the Mytholmroyd v Warley fixture from the previous weekend.

“We wish the player a speedy recovery and hope for negative tests for everyone involved.”

The player who tested positive was a Warley player who played in the game against Mythomroyd last Saturday.

The League have had to cancel both games as a precautionary measure and both Warley and Mytholmroyd players who played in the fixture will all be tested.

“The management board have made the decision as the health, safety and well-being of our clubs and members is our primary concern,” said league chairman Anthony Briggs.

“We are however pleased to report that the player who has tested positive for COVID is doing well and has no major health concerns which is really encouraging news to hear.

“The two cancelled fixtures will not affect the league tables as the game will now be removed and the final league table will be based on a points per game basis so that no team across the league are disadvantaged due to COVID 19 leading to the cancellation of fixtures a decision that has again been made to maintain a safe environment in which to play recreational cricket.”
