Shelf United and Calder ‘76 had to settle for a point each in their fight against relegation from the Premier Division of the Haslem-Sheppard Halifax AFL after a 4-4 draw last night.
Shelf surged into a 3-0 lead down the slope at Shelf Park with two goals from teenage striker Ben Grech and an own goal.
However, Calder wiped out the deficit in the first 15 minutes after the break with the help of two from James Megson.
After a spell of stalemate the visitors looked like they had grabbed a winner five minutes from time when Irfan Afzal “shinned” a bobbling ball over advancing keeper Matty Lloyd.
However, Grech slammed home his hat-trick goal shortly afterwards.
