It’s a place where you can go and be amongst friends, many of whom you don’t even know by name.

It’s a place where you can criticise, encourage, ridicule, laugh, cheer and sing.You can shout yourself hoarse and the people around you may not even notice.

An afternoon at the Shay gives you access to some of the best comedians around, whose one-line comments shouted out randomly can leave you chuckling for days.

Football can provide a real buzz one minute and engulf you with a feeling of despair in the next.

It can make your week or destroy your spirits completely.

The fixture list is important; it dictates when you’re free and where you’re going.

It shapes your week, home or away, it’s something you can rely on.

Being without games has blown away the routine. One moment every performance, every goal and every point matters and then without notice, it’s all become irrelevant.

The places we we’re going, the plans we had, are now insignificant.

The weekends feel really long, and the energy and enthusiasm of just a few weeks ago is seeping away.

The season has been great so far, a wonderful start with a real feel good factor.

The new management team worked wonders with little time at the start of the season to fully prepare.

The season ticket offer ensured the crowds and atmosphere were the best in years.

There were some memorable victories at Fylde, Barnet and Chesterfield along with some hefty defeats at Bromley and Stockport.

The question now is, what does it all mean?

Without the metronome of football ticking away, grainy video and images from yesteryear provide the most interest online.

Old grounds, famous players, memorable victories and the Football League – I wonder whatever became of Burnley?

It’s great that technology allows us to share these images so easily.

It’s clear that the club are up against it, they have the same challenges that we all have now, and nobody knows when this period of uncertainty will end and when football will restart.

There are ideas floating around on ways to finish the season, I guess it just depends on how long the break will be.

The gap could be longer than the usual summer break and then what happens if we restart?

Another break after the 10 or so games required to decide promotion and relegation?

It’s becoming harder and harder each day with the briefings from the Government to work out a date when normality might return.

The big days out with friends on long trips to Eastleigh, Dagenham and Boreham Wood will have to wait.

There are more important things to concern us all now and people to take care of.

Let’s hope things can move towards a resolution soon, because routine is great, even when we lose.
