It was the perfect response from Paul Quinn’s players after their lack lustre display in a 2-1 defeat at Prescot Cables on Saturday.

Droylsden have now conceded 16 goals in three days, having lost 8-2 at Northwick Victoria at the weekend.

Sam Hewitt’s header from a corner gave Town the lead after 12 minutes and Ryan Hall rounded the ‘keeper to make it 2-0 six minutes later.

The hosts added a third on 35 minutes when they broke quickly following a Droylsden corner and Tom Haigh scored.

Tom Robinson was an influential figure for Brighouse. His great through ball set up Hall to lob the ‘keeper on 54 minutes and Robinson then got in on the scoring act himself after breaking the offside trap.

Brighouse substitutes Connah Judson, Isaac Baldwin and Kurt Harris added to the tally in the closing 13 minutes.

Judson netted with an audacious lob; Baldwin scored the goal of the game with a superb volley from Jimmy Pollard’s corner; and Harris poked the ball home at another set piece.

Victory took Brighouse up to 10th place ahead of Saturday’s visit from Spennymoor Town, who are fourth and in excellent form.
