Brighouse Town’s six-match unbeaten run was ended when they lost 2-0 at Warrington Town yesterday in the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy.
Warrington, who lie second in the Division One of the Northern Premier - four places above Paul Quinn’s men - took a grip on the game midway through the first half.
James McCarten gave them the lead after 20 minutes and Ciaran Kilheeney doubled the advantage 14 minutes later.
Town battled hard, with Ben Thornton to the fore, but were unable to get back into the contest.
Brighouse now turn their attentions to Monday’s County Cup tie at home to Conference North side Harrogate Town (7-45), who made it three league wins on the bounce with a 1-0 home win over Worcester on Saturday.
