Brighouse fall to Lacy double

Brighouse Town were unable to follow up Thursday's fine 4-3 win at Ossett Town, losing 2-0 at home to Glossop North End yesterday.

It was their 11th defeat in 17 outings at the Yorkshire Payments Stadium this season but Goole’s 3-1 defeat to Scarborough means they are still seven points off the bottom in the Evo-Stik NPL.

Brighouse had plenty of possession, particularly in the first half hour, but were unable to break through.

Mid-table Glossop, yet to lose to Brighouse, were dangerous on the break and struck through Lewis Lacy on 36 minutes and 51 minutes.

Aaron Martin, who scored a hat-trick in a man of the match display for Brighouse at Ossett, carried the biggest threat for the hosts but they finished the 90 minutes frustrated.

Mossley visit Hove Edge on Monday and Brighouse then travel to Scarborough Athletic next Saturday.
