Brighouse lose to new leaders

Brighouse Town were unable to prevent Northwich Victoria going top of the Evo-Stik NPL’s first division north table yesterday when they were beaten 1-0.

Michael Clarke’s 34th minute goal separated the sides at Flixton as Vics took advantage of others having games postponed.

Brighouse, who are 12th, gave a good performance and felt they deserved something from the game.

The Hove Edge side were starting a run of three away matches. On Tuesday they travel to Spennymoor - who they drew 1-1 with at home five days ago - and on Saturday they face another mid-table side in Burscough.
