Brighouse Town 2 Clitheroe 4

Brighouse Town suffered their fourth Evo-Stik NPL Division One North defeat in five games with Clitheroe taking the points back across the Pennines.

Paul Quinn’s side were rocked by two goals in as many minutes in the first half as the visitors opened up a 3-1 lead at the break.

Ernest Boafo’s second goal of the game pulled it back to 3-2, but Clitheroe netted the all-important fourth goal with seven minutes left.

David Lynch gave Clitheroe an early lead after which Sam Dickinson made it 2-0. Sefton Gonzales then left Brighouse with a mountain to climb when he added the third soon after.

With half-time looming Boafo gave the home side hope when he scuffed home for 3-1

Town brought on Elliott Kebbie for Tom Matthews at half time and then introduced Shaquille Clarke-Adams for Isaac Baldwin and James Hurtley who replaced Danny Hull just after the hour.

Boafo brilliantly turned a defender before smashing home his second, but the joy was short-lived as Danny Morton made the game safe with Clitheroe’s fourth.
