Brighouse win the hard way

Arnold Town 1 Brighouse Town 2

Town returned from Arnold with three hard earned NCEL Preemier Division points after coming back from a goal down to secure the win.

Town were on the front foot from the start but were unable to make the breakthrough.

Arnold produced an excellent defensive display to thwart Paul Quinn’s men with ‘keeper Danny Marshall in fine form.

The second half saw Town continue to make most of the running with Marshall making the save of the day to deny Nick Jaggar.

After 51 minutes of almost total dominance, Town fell behind when a long ball over the top caught the visitors napping and Liam Corrigan ran on before slotting home.

Brighouse made their first substitution on 58 minutes when Luke Gibson replaced Leon Henry and four minutes later Town finally found a way past the inspired Marshall in the Arnold goal. Good build up allowed James Sutcliffe to cross and James Hurtley bravely headed home as the ‘keeper came out to challenge.

James Hurtley almost gave Town the lead minutes later when he cut in and forced Marshall into another save.

Quinn then brought on Ben Charlesworth for Joe Mitchell after which Arnold had a couple of chances, one resulting in a corner which Michael Leslie headed over.

Town finally got the second goal their dominance deserved as Charlesworth steered the ball in from close range after some outstanding skill and a pinpoint cross from Ernest Boafo.
